CSNDC is pleased to receive a $30,000 unrestricted grant from the Cummings Foundation, an institution that supports non-profit organizations in Greater Boston and elsewhere. The donation was made through the Foundation’s “Make A Difference Dollars” (MAD$) program.
In 2021, the Cummings Foundation gave $100,000 over four years to support CSNDC’s financial and housing counseling work, as well as other efforts of CSNDC’s Economic Development department. This latest grant extends the Foundation’s support, recognizing CSNDC’s impactful work in the Codman Square community and beyond.
“On behalf of the Cummings Foundation, we would like to present CSNDC a small token of our appreciation for all of the fine work that it does,” said Lewis Edgers, PhD, Professor Emeritus of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Tufts University, and a volunteer for the Foundation. Dr. Edgers presented the award to CNSDC’s Executive Director, Gail Latimore, and Vice President of Operations, Marcia Thornhill, on July 17. He and another Cummings volunteer, Katelyn Quynn, Chief Development Officer and Vice President of Board Relations at Hebrew SeniorLife, visited CSNDC in March and were so impressed that they recommended CSNDC for this continued support.
“Lew and I had such an enjoyable time and learned so much about the amazing work you are doing, from affordable housing to financial counseling to working with local businesses in your community,” said Ms. Quynn. “You are a fabulous and important resource to all, and it was important to learn more about you, and see the passion and dedication you have for your work.”
“This was a wonderful surprise,” said Latimore. “We are very grateful to the Cummings Foundation for their support.”
